Study of Anti-HCV Prevalence in Healthy Volunteer Donors

Abstract

|
Healthy 2917 volunteers were tested to study the prevalence of HCV infection in blood donors.
10 samples were positive among 2917 cases.
The overall prevalence of anti-HCV among healthy volunteer donors without risk factors for hepatitis was assessed to be 0.3%.
C hepatitis were found in about 85% of prospectively followed patients with posttransfusion and complications of C hepatitis were serious, so Anti-HCV screcning test should be applied exactly in all blood donors.
